LAFAYETTE- McNeese volleyball closed out the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic with a 3-0 (11-25, 20-25, 24-26) loss to Eastern Michigan Saturday morning to end tournament play with a 1-2 record. Senior libero Angela McGownd was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 21.3 digs per set including tying her season high with 27 against UL-Lafayette on Friday.
McNeese (3-4) struggled on offense, committing 16 hitting errors to end the match with a .086 hitting percent. Allison Lippert led the Cowgirls in kills with seven and she and Ajani Hodges both ended the match with four blocks apiece. McGownd continued her streak of double figure digs, picking up a match high 20. McGownd has had 10 or more digs in all seven matches to start her senior season. Kendall Kilchrist, who has also dished out 10 or more assists in all seven matches this season, led McNeese with 14 on the day.

NEXT MATCH
The Cowgirls will return home for its next four matches that includes two at the McNeese Round Robin (Sept. 20). McNeese will host Texas Southern next Tuesday (Sept. 10) in the only match for the Cowgirls next week. One week later, the Cowgirls will take on Prairie View (Sept. 17) before facing Grambling and UL-Monroe on the 20th.
