SB: Cowgirls Open Play At Scrap Yard Tournament Saturday

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball, coming off a 1-0 road win at Texas A&M Thursday night, will remain on the road through the weekend for the Scrap Yard Tournament in Conroe, Texas.
 
McNeese (5-1) will face South Dakota State at 4:30 p.m. and Alabama-Birmingham at 7 p.m. Saturday. McNeese will face UAB again at 11 a.m. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a non-conference game at 1 p.m.  Sunday.

South Dakota State (2-2) is scheduled to play UAB and UL-Monroe today and Texas A&M-CC Saturday morning before facing McNeese.
 
UAB (5-1) enters the tournament on a three-game winning streak following its 9-2 win at Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday. UAB nearly upset top ranked Washington last Saturday at the Georgia Tech Tournament.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (0-4) will look to pick up its first win of the season after going winless at the Texas Tournament opening weekend.

•-have 27 RBI and 25 walks as a team
•- sophomore Sara Geier leads the team with a .500 batting average
•-senior Brenique Wright leads the team with two home runs and a .786 slugging percent
•- senior Alexandria Saldivar has a team high seven hits and five RBI
•- Saldivar is one of the toughest players to strike out, she hasn't struck out in 20 at bats
•- three players have a team high three stolen bases (Toni Perrin, Caleigh Cross, Lauren Brown)
 
PITCHING NOTES
•- ranks second in the nation in shutouts (4)
•- staff has a 0.76 ERA
•- have struck out 32 and allowed seven walks
•- have given up only four earned runs
•- sophomore Saleen Flores leads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record and 11 strikeouts
•- junior Ashley Koncir (5.0 inn.) and Whitney Tate (1.1 inn.) both have 0.00 ERA's
•-Koncir leads the nation in ERA and walks allowed per seven innings
•- Tate is coming off her first career save in the win at Texas A&M
•- Saleen has a 0.66 ERA in 10.2 innings
•-Caroline Settle is 1-0 with a 0.70 ERA in 10.0 innings
•- Alexsandra Flores is 1-1 with a 1.40 ERA in 10.0 innings
