COLLEGE STATION – McNeese will compete in its final indoor track and field meet before the March 1-2 Southland Conference Championships when it takes part in the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday.
 
Events will get underway at 4:30 p.m. with the men's high jump and men's and women's pole vault. Running events will start at 5 with the women's 60-meter hurdle prelims.
 
Several Cowboys and Cowgirls will enter the meet ranked high in the conference rankings with some looking to improve on their marks heading into the league meet.
 
Alanna Arvie, coming off a record-breaking performance in the shot put at the Samford Bulldog Invite while capturing her fourth win of the season in the weight throw, is entered in both events and ranking No. 1 in the league in the weight and third in the shot put.
 
Also on the women's side, sprinter Tia Andrews will run the 60-meters and compete in the long jump. Andrews is ranked tied for second in the league in the 60-meter dash with a 7.52 time, just .01 off the top spot.
 
Brentney Carroll will look to improve on her No. 7 ranking in the 60-meter hurdles (8.79) while the 4x400-meter relay team of Paigelyn Carter, Destiny Johnson, Ellis Conway and Jordan Carter will look to move up from third and improve on its best time of 3:46.88.
 
On the men's side, the only Cowboy competing that's ranked in the top five in the league will be Darion Dunn in the 60-meter hurdles where he'll carry a best time of 7.94 for a No. 3 ranking into the meet.
