McNeese Athletics took home three awards from the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) contest, the organization announced over the weekend.

Matthew Bonnette, the Director of Athletics Communications, earned a third place award in the "All Other Sports/Stories Feature" on his release about former Cowboy golfer Bob MacIntyre's sixth place finish at the 2019 Open Championship.

Megan Sload-Whiting, Director of Marketing and Ticket Operations, picked up a third place award in the "Graphics" category for her work that was featured on the cover of the 2019 McNeese Football media guide as well as on other promotional materials.

Also earning a third place award was photographer Raymond Stewart for his quick eye capture of former Cowboy basketball player
Roydell Brown and his high-flying dunk attempt over a Southeastern Louisiana player.

Bonnette, now in his ninth season at McNeese and 19
th overall in the athletics communication profession, has won 23 awards by the LSWA and two national awards by CoSIDA for his work.

In addition to McNeese's accolades, the Lake Charles American Press won four awards in the contest.
