LAKE CHARLES—First year McNeese head women's basketball coach Lynn Kennedy picked up his first signee for the 2022-23 season by announcing the signing of 6-2, forward, Marta Hermoso from La Pobla De Vallbona, Spain.
 
"Marta will bring added depth as a 3/4 combo player and she will add a tremendous amount of experience with her playing against the highest-level of international play. This will help make her an immediate contributor to our program. She is able to guard taller post players because of her length and offensively she can create mismatch problems because she can step out and knock down the three." Kennedy said.
 
Hermoso was a member of the U16 Spanish National Team for two years. In 2020, she was a member of a team that took part in the 2021 World Cup.
 
During regional play where her team earned a bronze medal, Hermoso averaged 5.6 ppg., 5.3 rpg. along with a 46.0 field goal shooting percent.
 
As a member of Segle XXI during the 2019-20 season, Hermoso averaged 5.3 ppg. with a 49.0 field goal percent and a 63.0 free throw percent.
