LAKE CHARLES – The winter weather affecting all parts of the south has forced changes in McNeese Athletic events this weekend, both home and away.
 
The McNeese Softball Cowgirl Classic will still be played but with a different set of teams as North Dakota State, Boise State and Memphis have all had to cancel due to the weather. Now the Classic will include McNeese, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas.
 
The round robin tournament will get underway on Saturday at noon with Louisiana Tech playing against Arkansas. The Cowgirls will then take on Arkansas at 2:30 and will cap off the day against Louisiana Tech at 5 p.m.
 
On Sunday, La. Tech and Arkansas will start the day at 10 a.m. followed by a 12:30 matchup between the Cowgirls and Arkansas. McNeese will host Louisiana Tech at 3 p.m. to conclude the tournament.
 
The Cowgirl home tennis match on Saturday against Louisiana Tech has been canceled.
 
Also postponed are two road games for the McNeese soccer squad – Friday at Incarnate Word and Sunday at Abilene Christian. No date on rescheduling those games has been announced.
 
Saturday's 1 p.m. Cowgirl basketball game at home against New Orleans is still scheduled to be played. Information on any changes to that game will be made immediately when decided upon.

The Cowboy and Cowgirl cross country teams will run at the Southland Conference Championships on Sunday in Hammond and hosted by Southeastern Louisiana. The women will run at 10 a.m. and the men will follow at 11.
