McNeese T&F to compete at ULL Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE – McNeese will take a full squad to the Louisiana Classics on Friday and Saturday, marking the outdoor track and field season opener for the full unit.
 
Last week, a select few Cowboys and Cowgirls competed at the USA Invitational that saw Grace McKenzie breaks a 27-year old long jump record and Donavon Banks break the record of McNeese Hall of Famer and current throws coach Ben Chretien in the javelin event.
 
The Louisiana Classics will begin with field events at 3 p.m., on Friday with a pair of running events – the 200-meters and 5,000-meters – set to begin at 6:30. The final day of the meet will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m., with field events followed by the start of running events at 2 p.m. 
 
Joining McNeese in the nine-team field includes the host school ULL along with in-state programs LSU, New Orleans, Nicholls, ULM and Dillard, plus Lamar and Barton County CC.

Cowgirl entrants will include Alanna Arvie in the shot put, discus and hammer; Blanche Beard in the javelin; Kira Benkmann in the hammer; Victoria Canter in the javelin; Ciara Gilroy in the 800-meters; Kayla Harrison in the 200, 400 and 4x100; Kinnady Hawkins in the 100 and 100 hurdles; Makayla Heath in the 100, 200, and 4x100; Chloe Hernandez in the discus and hammer; Priscilla Ibarra in the 800; Malaiya Jedkins in the 100, 200 and 4x100; Aurelia Jepkorir in the 5000; Destiny Johnson in the 200, 400 and 4x100; Pamela Kosgei in the 5000; Alissa Lander in the 5000; Mariah Lee in the 100 and 4x100; Carli McDonald in the 100, 200 and 4x100; Grace McKenzie in the high jump and shot put; Victoria Pierson in the 200, 400 and 4x100; Zur'Najah Poullard in the 100 and high jump; Nele Siebert in the 1500; Morgan Talley in the 100, high jump and triple jump; Jemira Thomlinson in the discus and hammer; Olivia Tzschach in the 200, 4x100 and triple jump; Kayla Warner in the 200 and 400; and Dreunna Washington in the 100 and 200.
