LAKE CHARLES- McNeese women's tennis suffered a 5-2 Southland Conference loss here Friday to a tough New Orleans team to fall to 1-13 overall and 1-6 in league play. The Privateers improved to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the SLC.

The Privateers took an early 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles points and carried that momentum into the singles matches where they won four of six matches.

Several of the singles matches were tightly contested with three of the matches going to a third and deciding set.

UNO won the first two singles matches at the no.1 and no. 2 spots to extend their overall lead to 3-0.

McNeese's
Natalia Ballo picked up the Cowgirls' first point of the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) tiebreaker in the second set win over Estelle Vanthier.

The Cowgirls' other point came on court 4 where
Matilde Mulatero picked up a three-set (7-6, 6-1, 7-6) win over Anastasia Vaganova.

The Privateers went on to claim the no. 5 and no. 6 singles to close out the match.
