LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis team dropped a hard fought 4-3 Southland Conference match to Southeastern Louisiana here Saturday, dropping the Cowgirls to 1-14 on the year and 1-7 in league play.
Southeastern La. (6-12 overall, 3-6 SLC) took the early lead by picking up the doubles point, winning at the no. 1 and no. 2 spots.
Two of the singles matches went to a tie-breaker third sets in which the Cowgirls picked up wins in both of them.
Carlotta Romito defeated Flory Bierma at the no. 3 singles and
Luna Jokanovic defeated Ximena Yanez at the no. 5 singles for two points. The other Cowgirl point came at the no. 2 singles where
Natalia Ballo defeated Polina Sleptsova 6-3, 7-5.
The Lions picked up singles wins at the no. 1, no. 4, and no. 6 singles to pick up the overall match win.
McNeese will return to the court next Friday, April 9 against Sam Houston and Sunday, April 11 against Stephen F. Austin to conclude Southland Conference play.
