Cowgirl tennis signs Spanish standout

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Cowgirl tennis head coach Giorgia Pozzan has announced the signing of Ariane Monlleo Sanchis, and international player from one of the strongest regions in Spain.

A native of Valencia, Spain, Sanchis is currently ranked No. 102 in the Spanish Rankings and has competed well at several top events including being a semifinalist at the Regional Championship, a semifinalist at the Marca Jovenes Promesas, and a three-time semifinalist at the National Absolute Championships.

"I could not be more excited to welcome Ariane to the Cowgirl family," Pozzan said. "She comes from one of the strongest regions of Spain which means she will bring along a fiery spirit and very high standards. During the recruiting process, I was impressed by her professionalism and her knowledge of the game. She will be a great fit for our team and will definitely be an asset in building a Southland Conference championship team"

"I am very happy and very grateful for the opportunity McNeese has given me," said Sanchis. "From the first moment, I felt very comfortable with the coach. "The program has just what I was looking for with the desire to compete at a high level and the desire to improve day in and day out. Among all the options I had, McNeese has been the one I liked the mos. I think it is the perfect place to combine my college degree with a high level of tennis. I'm looking forward to joining the McNeese family in the Fall of 2021"
