CORPUS CHRISTI - Despite doubling Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's shot total 16-8, the McNeese Cowgirls (5-3-1, 2-1-0) lost 1-0 as the Pokes conceded an early goal in the 9th minute.
The McNeese defense only yielded one goal and allowed zero shots on net the second half but the Cowgirls were unable to match the early goal of Maggie Murray. The Cowgirls applied pressure throughout as they tallied nine shots on goal including a last attempt effort in the 89th minute by Anna Watson.
Notables
Megan Mielke, Morgan Schooley, and Keely Morrow each played all 90 minutes.
Anna Watson attempted five shots which brings her to 24 on the season which leads the SLC.
Havana Johnson added three shots (23 shots in total, 2nd in SLC).
The defense entered the game 10th in the nation in terms of goals against average riding four straight shutouts into tonight's match. Jackie Kelly and the rest of the team have only allowed two goals in their last seven matches including tonight.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi improves to (3-4-1, 1-0-1).
