COLLEGE STATION – McNeese track and field teams will kick off the 2022 indoor season on Friday when they take part in the Texas A&M Ted Nelson Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium.

Live results to the meet can be followed HERE.

The meet will be the first of five indoor competitions for the Cowboys and Cowgirls this winter, including the McNeese Indoor Meet on Jan. 28 at the Ralph Ward Recreation Complex. Due to the COVID-19 virus, McNeese's home high school indoor meets that were scheduled for Jan. 15 and 29 have been canceled.

Headlining the Cowgirls will be Malaiya Jedkins who was the bronze medal winner at last year's Southland Conference Indoor Championships. She'll compete in both the triple jump and 60-meter dash. Also competing on Friday will be vaulter Maja Gebauer who placed fourth in the pole vault at the conference meet.

Also competing for the Cowgirls and who scored points at last year's league indoor championships include Dreunna Washington in the 200-meters and long jump, and Shania Anthony in the 800-meters and the distance medley relay.

For the Cowboys, leading the way will be three competitors who scored points at last season's indoor championships – Ronnie Jackson, who scored in the 60-meters, will compete in the high jump and 60m hurdles; Joey Croft will run the DMR (scored in the mile run), and Joshua Raphael, who scored in the 60m will compete in that event and run a leg in the 4x400-meter relays.

"We're looking forward to getting the season started and knocking off the rust and seeing how their holiday training went," said head coach Brendon Gilroy. "Our fall Blue and Gold Meet showed that we have some big-time performers."

The meet, which will be a scored event, will get started at noon with the women's 60-meters, women's high jump and long jump, and men's pole vault and long jump.
