SAN ANTONIO – McNeese will look to get back into the win column on Saturday when they Cowboys visit Incarnate Word in Southland Conference basketball action.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at UIW's Convocation Center. The game will broadcast live on the McNeese Sports Network (92.1 FM and mymagiclc.com).
McNeese (7-12, 1-1) dropped a tough 60-56 battle to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday night. In that game,
Christian Shumate scored 19 points while stepping in to play the No. 5 role after
Brendan Medley-Bacon was scratched from the game after suffering a mild injury during the morning's shoot-around workout. Medley-Bacon will be a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup.
Shumate's scoring output has lifted him to No. 2 on the team in scoring with a 10.1 average, following
Myles Lewis who tops the team with an 11.3 mark. Medley-Bacon and
Kellon Taylor each score 9.9 points while
Collin Warren is sinking 9.3 per game.
The Cardinals (4-15, 0-2) are coming off a 68-65 loss to HBU on Saturday to mark their second-straight loss and fourth out of the last five games.
Four Cardinals are averaging double-figures in scoring, led by RJ Glasper's 15.3 clip. The graduate transfer from Oral Roberts has dropped double-digit scoring games seven straight outings with 20 or more points in four contests. He's coming off a 15-point outing against HBU on Thursday.
Saturday's game will be the 10
th meeting in the series with the Cowboys leading 6-3 all-time. UIW has won the last two outings, both played in San Antonio and last by an 83-61 score last January.
