LAKE CHARLES – McNeese's Morgan Talley recorded a Ralph Ward Complex record with 3,659 points to win the women's pentathlon on day 1 of the McNeese Indoor & Multi Meet here Friday.
 
Talley finished first in four of the five events and tied for first in the high jump where she set a new personal record with a clearing of 5-4.25. Her point total is the third-most in school history in the multi-event following All-American Grace McKenzie and Ashley Johnson.
 
On the men's side, McNeese's Ronnie Jackson is in second place in the heptathlon through four events with 2,635 points, following ULL's Chandler Mixon who leads after the first day with 2970 points.
 
Jackson won the high jump event with a mark of 6-2.25, finished second in the shot put at 34-5, and was third in both the 55-meter dash (6.94) and long jump (21-2).
 
The men will conclude the heptathlon on Saturday at 8 a.m. with the 55-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meters.
 
Also on Saturday, the open divisions will begin competition at 11:30 with the women's weight throw and men's shot put. Running events will start at 3 p.m. with the men's and women's 1-mile race.
