VB: Cowgirls Extend Winning Streak To Four Matches With Straight Set Win Over Texas A&M-Commerce

Commerce, TEXAS—McNeese volleyball ended its week with a perfect 2-0 record following Saturday's straight set 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23) win over Texas A&M-Commerce.

The win over Texas A&M-Commerce is the second of the season for McNeese, who defeated the Lions 3-2 in Lake Charles in the SLC opener on Sept. 22.

The straight set win is the third straight for McNeese who defeated Northwestern State in straight sets Thursday and Lamar on Oct. 15.

With the win, McNeese improves to 12-13 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Skyeler Embry and Nejra Hanic both recorded a match high 16 kills apiece to lead the Cowgirls. Embry's 16 kills are her career high while the 16 for Hanic ties her season high.

"Our outsides, Nejra (Hanic) and Skyeler (Embry), were unstoppable today. They really carried us through the match," said head coach Sasha Karelov. "Our serve receive was very steady, which made our offense run smoothly."

McNeese continued its solid serving, ending the match with nine aces with Sanni Rantanen leading McNeese with three aces. Rantanen also led the Cowgirls with four blocks.

Setters Mia Perales and Dejah Dade continued their solid play, dishing out 21 and 18 assists, respectively while Bailey Tillman and Lizzy Low held down the back line with 21 and 11 digs, respectively.

"It's not easy getting two sweeps on the road. I'm so proud of our team's focus and grittiness this weekend. We're excited to get back to practice and improving."

The Cowgirls return home Thursday to host Nicholls in a 6:30 p.m. match.
