HAMMOND-- McNeese women's soccer couldn't match Southeastern's offense here Sunday evening in its 5-1 Southland Conference loss to the Lions.
Southeastern (7-5-3, 5-3-3 SLC) held a 3-0 lead in the first half with all three goals coming within seven minutes of each other. The Lions began their scoring in the 30th minute on a goal by Makenzie Maher from high center of the goal. Two minutes later, Mya Guillory sent a shot from the high left to put Southeastern up 2-0. The Lions took a 3-0 lead in the 36
th minute when Victoria Brackmann scored on a penalty kick.
McNeese (5-7-4, 3-4-4 SLC) avoided the shutout when
Matilde Tesgaard scored her third career goal in the 67
th minute from the left side of the goal.
Rachel Young was credited with the assist, her second of the season.
Southeastern added two more goals in the second half from Hanna Moffatt in the 87
th minute and Maher's second goal of the game in the 81
st minute to claim the win.
The Cowgirls will close out the regular season at Texas A&M-Commerce this Friday in a 7 p.m. game.
