LAKE CHARLES- McNeese volleyball suffered a 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 11-25, 22-20) Southland Conference match to Southeastern here Thursday night in a match that consisted of 34 ties and 16 lead changes.

McNeese (16-15, 12-5 SLC) held a 2-1 lead before the Lions tied the match with the fourth set win, sending the match into a fifth and deciding set. In a set that normally ends with the first team reaching 15 and winning by two points, both teams played well beyond that.

From this point on in the match, both teams traded points with neither team backing down. McNeese led 20-19 with match point on the line but Southeastern scored the next three points including two kills from Hidalgo to win the set and the match.

The Cowgirls had three players record double figure kills with
Kendall Glueck leading the way with 13. Sanni Rantanen ended the match with 11 and
McKenzie Moore had 10. Glueck also ended with a match high eight blocks.

Bailey Tillman led the Cowgirl defense with 23 digs with Skyeler Embry being credited with 19.
Lizzy Low had 17 and Mia Perales completed her double double with 16 digs.

Southeastern improved to 22-7 overall and 12-5 in league play with the win. Kailin Newsome was unstoppable as she ended her night with 26 kills and 20 digs. Cicily Hidalgo also ended the night with a double double (17 kills, 22 digs).

McNeese will close out the regular season this Saturday in a 1 p.m. match against Lamar. Seniors Skyeler Embry, Dejah Dade, Mia Perales,
Baylee Laskoskie,
Lizzy Low,
Kendall Glueck, and
Bria Plante will be honored prior to the match. Â
