T&F back in action on Friday at LSU Bayou Bengal

BATON ROUGE – McNeese track and field will continue its indoor track and field season on Friday when the Cowboys and Cowgirls compete at the LSU Bayou Bengal in the Carl Maddox Field House.
 
Field events will get underway at 9:30 a.m. with the women's weight throw while the running events will start at 1 p.m. with the women's 60-meter qualifying round.
 
Head coach Brendon Gilroy has entered a full squad for Friday's action with 26 Cowboys and 21 Cowgirls entered in their respective events.
 
Cowgirl sprinter Dreunna Washington will look to move up in the SLC rankings in the 60-meters where she's currently fifth in the conference. The top-ranked jumper in the league in the long jump, Washington is entered in that event and look to improve on her 18-10.5 mark.
 
Kayla Warner will compete in the 800-meters where she's currently ranked No. 6 in the conference. In the 60-meter hurdles, two Cowgirls ranked in the top 10 will look to improve on their marks – Morgan Talley (4th) and Reagan West (5th).
 
Other Cowgirls ranked in the top 10 in their respective events who are scheduled to compete include: high jumpers Sakari Famous (1st) and Jordyn Garriet (4th); Morgan Talley (6th) in the long jump; Ashari Jones (7th) and Ane Torres (8th) in the shot put; and Chloe Hernandez (5th) and Mariah Lee (7th) in the weight throw.
 
Jalon White, who is ranked No. 33 in the nation in the 400-meters, will not run his specialty event on Friday so he can prepare for a meet in two weeks at Texas Tech where he will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
 
Top 10 Cowboys scheduled to compete include: in the 60-meters, Zac Martin (6th) and Kameron Quinn (7th); Terrill Banks in the 400-meters (7th); Patrick Boudreaux in the high jump (6th); in the shot put Garrett Dietert (6th) and Marcus Francis (9th); and the weight throw will include Tyler Challis (4th), Reilly LeBlanc (6th) and Hunter Longino (8th).
