MOBILE, Alabama – McNeese track and field will start its outdoor season on Friday at the two-day South Alabama Jaguar Invitational.
 
Friday's events will begin at 2:30 with field events while the running events will take place on Saturday beginning at 11:30.
 
Teams entered include McNeese, South Alabama, Dillard, Louisiana Tech, Loyola-New Orleans, Mobile, New Orleans, Southeastern, Spring Hill, Tulane and Western Kentucky.
 
Cowboy javelin thrower and All-American Hunter Longino will be making his season debut in his premier event. Longino placed 23^rd at last season's NCAA championships after placing in the top 12 at the NCAA East prelims and a fourth place finish at the conference meet.
 
Also seeing action for the first time this season will be Cowgirl javelin thrower Blanche Beard who won a bronze medal at last year's conference championships.
 
Pole vaulter Maja Gebauer, fresh off a silver medal win at the SLC indoor championships will join other Cowboy and Cowgirl indoor medal winners to open up the outdoor slate, including Marcus Francis in the shot put and discus (3^rd in shot put at indoor), and Janell Fullerton in the shot put and discus (2^nd in the shot put). Malaiya Jedkins, who won a gold medal in the triple jump with a school record mark, is entered in the 200-meter dash.
