MOBILE, Alabama – McNeese track and field wrapped up competition at the South Alabama Invitational here Saturday with strong winds playing havoc with most events on the day but that didn't turn away some good marks for the Cowboys and Cowgirls.
Three first place marks where met – Cowboy sprinter
Samuel Gray in the 100m dash and
Rodney Tookes in the 400m hurdles as well as Cowgirl thrower
Janell Fullerton in the shot put.
Gray was one of three Cowboys to finish in the top four in the 100-meters, leading the event with a time of 11.18 against a tough wind.
Joshua Raphael placed second with an 11.37 and DaMarion Roane was fourth at 11.55.
Tookes won the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.57, and in the pole vault,
Hayes Thompson posted a fourth place mark of 14-3.25.
On the women's side, Fullerton threw 48-8.75 to win the shot put and also placed fourth in the discus event with a throw of 140-10.
Makayla Heath had a third place finish in the 100-meter dash at 13.03 and was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished second at 49.27, joining
Malaiya Jedkins, MiKayla Wright and
Kayla Harrison.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will return to action next Friday and Saturday at the ULL Louisiana Classics.
