Two school records, 30 PRs highlight McNeese at LSU meet

Sakari Famous clears the bar at the LSU Battle on the Border

BATON ROUGE - Two school records, three first place finishes and 30 personal records broken highlighted McNeese's performance at the LSU Battle on the Bayou Saturday.

Both school records were recorded for the Cowgirls. Sakari Famous set a new school mark in the high jump with a clearing of 5-feet-11.25 inches to win the event while also setting a new personal record.

Clemson transfer Janell Fullerton won the shot put event with a throw of 52-0 to set a new record as well as hitting her longest throw as a Cowgirl.

McNeese will return to action next Thursday-Saturday at the Stephen F. Austin Carl Knight Invitational.

Meet Notes:

  • The men's 4x400 relay team of Richard Lee, Terrill Banks, Ondray Miles and Jalon White won the event with a season best time of 3:09.52, eight seconds faster than the previous season best.
  • White, competing in his first outdoor meet of the season, finished fourth in the men's 400m with a PR time of 46.39.
  • That time is the fastest for the Cowboys this season.
  • Cowboy sprinter Zac Martin continues to impress as he finished third in the 100m with a time of 10.49 and finishing behind just two LSU sprinters.
  • Four of the five Cowgirl entries in the 800m set new PRs - Irene Barreiro-Lopez 2:13.35, Kayla Warner 2:16.45, Ciara Gilroy 2:17.58, Grace Sullivan 2:27.61.
  • Barreiro-Lopez's time in the 800m is the fastest for the Cowgirls this season.
  • The Cowboys 4x100 time of 40.75 is the fastest of the season for the team.
  • Garrett Dietert's discus throw of 141-1 is the team season-best.
  • Dreunna Washington's PR time of 24.01 in the 200m is a team season-best.
  • Kayla Harrison set a new PR in the 400m with a team season-best time of 55.87.
  • The Cowgirls 4x100 relay time of 46.58 is a new season best.
  • Janell Fullerton threw 158-9 to finish 4th in the discus, marking a new PR and a team season-best.
  • Washington's PR long jump tape of 20-1 is a team season-best.
