WTEN: Cowgirls Fall 4-0 To Texas A&M-CC In SLC Tourn.

NEW ORLEANS--  McNeese women's tennis season came to an end here Friday morning at the Southland Conference Tournament with a 4-0 loss against No. 2 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Cowgirls end their season with a 3-16 overall record.
 
"This was a very tough match, we battled for nearly three hours," said head coach Giorgia Pozzan. "Two of our players were in their third set but unfortunately the match was clinched before they could finish their matches."
 
The Islanders (20-3) opened the match by winning the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts.
 
In singles action, the Islanders took a 2-0 lead with a No. 1 singles win before clinching the match with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 in straight sets.
 
Cowgirls Yukina Abe and Ariane Monlleo Sanchis were in their third set at the time the match was clinched. Abe dropped her first set 6-2 at the No. 5 court before evening the match with a 6-2 second set win. Sanchis also dropped her first match, 6-3 on court six but came back to win the second set 5-2.
