Tracksters have solid showings at Rice, NSU meets

McNeese track and field wrapped up its pre-conference portion of the outdoor schedule on Saturday with athletes competing at both the Rich J. Fred Duckett Invitational and the NSU Leon Johnson Invite.

At NSU, Morgan Talley was a double winner for the Cowgirls, taking first in the long jump with a PR mark of 19-11.5 and also a PR in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.93. Talley also placed third in the triple jump with a PR mark 40-8.25 and placed 19th in the javelin event at 88-7.

Malaiya Jedkins won the women's triple jump with a lead of 41-1 while Janell Fullerton threw 162-1 in the discus throw for a new PR and a win.

On the men's side, Ronnie Jackson won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.25 and Darren Taylor took home his first collegiate win in the javelin throw with a PR mark of 191-5.

At the Rice meet, Aaron Gilliam clocked a PR in the 1500-meters with a time of 3:48.36.
