BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – McNeese track and field had three competitors on day two of the 2022 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary Round on Thursday but unfortunately neither were able to qualify to the NCAA Championships.
Dreunna Washington came within 3 ¼ inches of advancing in the long jump but fell just short at 19-feet, 8 ¼-inches to finish 18
th. The top 12 advanced to the NCAA Championships.
In the women's javelin,
Blanche Beard threw 144-7 to place 35
th.
Capping the day was
Janell Fullerton in the women's shot put. Fullerton, throwing in the second of four flights, held down fifth place at 51-10 but fell to finish 25th following completion of the third and fourth flights.
On Wednesday, Cowboy sprinter
Jalon White ran a 47.15 in the 400m first round, failing to qualify to Friday's quarterfinals.
White will be part of the Cowboys' 4x400 relay team that will run on Friday at 7:45 p.m. Joining him on the team will be
Richard Lee,
Ondray Miles and Terrill Banks.
On Sunday,
Sakari Famous will attempt to qualify for nationals in the women's high jump at 1:30 p.m. while both
Malaiya Jedkins and
Morgan Talley will take their shot in the triple jump at 5 p.m.
