COLLEGE STATION, Texas—Texas A&M scored two quick goals on its way to an 8-0 women's soccer win over McNeese here Sunday evening.
The very athletic Aggie team took a 1-0 lead with just over a minute into the game off a goal by Quinn Cornog. The Aggies put the ball in the back of the net 33 seconds later from Makhiya McDonald for a 2-0 lead. McDonald struck again for her second goal of the game in the 23
rd minute for a 3-0 led which would also be the halftime score.
The Aggies tacked on another goal in the first 30 seconds of the second half off a cross from Kate Colvin to put the Aggies up 4-0.
Carissa Boeckmann scored off her own rebound in the 52nd minute to put Texas A&M up 5-0
then a goal by Sydney Becerra in the 54
th minute gave the Aggies a 6-0 lead.
Sawyer Dumond tucked a shot just inside the post in the 72
nd minute for her first career goal and a 7-0 Texas A&M lead. The final Aggie goal came in the 81
st minute by Georgia Leb for the 8-0 lead.
McNeese will travel to Mobile, Alabama this weekend to take part in the South Alabama Tournament. The Cowgirls will face Troy at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 before ending the weekend with a 3 p.m. game against South Alabama on Sunday.
