SOC: Cowgirls Fall To S. Alabama...Return Home Wed. Against Southern

MOBILE, Ala.—After two weather delays due to lightning, McNeese and South Alabama women's soccer teams eventually took the field here Sunday afternoon in the final game of the South Alabama Tournament.
 
The game was tight for the first 20 minutes and McNeese had several opportunities in the first half but it was South Alabama who got on the scoreboard with back-to-back goals late in the first half for a 2-0 lead. The Jaguars added five more goals in the second half to pick up the 7-0 win and remained undefeated at 3-0-0 on the year.
 
McNeese (1-3-0) will return home on Wednesday Aug. 31 to host Southern in a 7 p.m. contest
 
 GAME NOTES
• The game started one hour late due to weather delay in the previous game
• Game was also delayed for 30 minutes in the 25th minute due to weather delay (lightning).
• South Alabama scored back-to-back goals late in the first half for the 2-0 lead.
Jackie Kelly, who came into play goalie in the second half made two goal saving saves in the 47th minute
•- The Jaguars added a goal in the 53rd minute for the 3-0 lead
• Back-to-back goals for the second time in the game for the Jaguars extended the lead to 5-0.
• A goal off a penalty kick put the Jaguars up 6-0 in the 69th minute
• The final goal of the game for S. Alabama came with in the 86th minute
• 18 Cowgirls saw playing time in today's game
Salma Elhaimer and Kambrie McFarland were credited with one shot apiece
• Brianna O'Dell and Jackie Kelly were both credited with two saves apiece
