LAKE CHARLES – A total of 14 McNeese Cowboy and Cowgirl track and field athletes were recognized for earning All-Louisiana honors for the 2022 outdoor season, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced on Friday.
 
Cowboy distance runners Evans Kemboi and Aaron Gilliam earned first and third team honors respectively in the men's 5,000-meters – Kemboi clocking a state-best 14:24.17 on March 23 while Gilliam posting a 14:30.51 on April 8.
 
Fellow distance runner Jacob Kipkogei earned All-Louisiana Second Team honors in the 10,000-meters with a time of 30:46.14 while Joey Croft was named to the second team in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:00.13.
 
The Cowboys' 4x400-meter relay team made up of Richard Lee, Ondray Miles, Terrill Banks and Jalon White earned All-Louisiana third team honors with a mark of 3:07.77 and Ronnie Jackson clocked a 14.15 in the 110 hurdles to capture third team honors.
 
For the Cowgirls, thrower Janell Fullerton was named to the first team in the shot put with a state-best throw of 53-5. Sakari Famous, who recently placed eighth at the Commonwealth Games in the high jump, earned third team honors in the event with a mark of 6-0.5.
 
Dreunna Washington was named third team All-Louisiana in the long jump at 2-2.5 while Morgan Talley earned second team honors in the heptathlon with 5,038 points. Rounding out the Cowgirls' honors was javelin thrower Blanche Beard who was named to the third team with a mark of 159-2.
