VB: Cowgirls Defeat Texas Southern In Home Opener

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball returned to its home court (The Legacy Center) after two years and picked up its home opening 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-14) win over Texas Southern (0-8) Tuesday night.
 
McNeese (3-8) produced its best hitting percent of the season, a .287 percent along with 47 kills. The Cowgirls were paced in kills by Nejra Hanic's 19 kills which tied her career high, and she also ended the match with a .485 hitting percent, committing only one error in 33 attempts.
 
Three Cowgirls picked up double figure digs with Bailey Tillman leading the way with 16. Lizzy Low was credited with 14 gids and Kendall Osgood had 10.  Kendall Glueck led the Cowgirls with six blocks while McKenzie Moore had four. Mia Perales led all players with 22 assists while Dejah Dade dished out 14.
 
McNeese will travel to Waco, Texas this weekend to take part in its fourth and final regular season tournament this Thursday and Friday.
 
 
Set 1
• McNeese opened the match by taking a 4-0 lead behind the serve of Bailey Tillman and never looked back
• Three straight points put the Cowgirls up 13-5 then another rally late in the set gave the Cowgirls a 21-12 lead.
• Hanic closed out the first set with her fifth kill of the set to give McNeese the 25-13 win
 
Set 2
• McNeese opened the set with a 5-2 lead and led up until Texas Southern tied the set then took a 23-21 lead.
• A Kendall Glueck kill, paired by a Texas Southern error tied the set at 23 apiece.
• Back-to-back kills by Glueck gave McNeese the 25-23 win and a 2-0 match lead
 
Set 3
• For the third straight set, McNeese jumped out to the lead- an 11-3 lead then extended the lead to 20-9
• McNeese ended the match on Dejah Dade kill to secure the win
