SOC: Bounces Don't Go Cowgirls Way In Loss To A&M-Commerce

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese soccer fell 2-1 to Texas A&M-Commerce here Friday night in a Southland Conference game, dropping the Cowgirls to 3-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the SLC while the Lions improved to 2-4-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the SLC.
 
All the scoring took place in the second half with the Lions taking a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute on a Mya Mitchell goal. Another goal by the Lions in the 65th minute gave them a 2-0 lead, this goal coming from Karalie Morrison.
 
McNeese's Salma Elhaimer put the Cowgirls on the board in the 73rd minute to avoid the shutout. The goal by Elhaimer is her team leading third. Magalie Depot was credited with her first assists of the season.
 
McNeese outshot the Lions 12-5 with the Lions having a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Two of the McNeese shots hit the cross bar with one of them hitting the crossbar and coming straight down, nearly crossing the goal line.
 
Elhaimer and Kambrie McFarland led the Cowgirls with two shots apiece.
 
McNeese will return to the pitch next Friday, Sept. 23 on the road at Incarnate Word for its only match next week. The Cowgirls will return home on Friday, Sept. 30 to host Nicholls.
