SOC: Cowgirls and Cardinals Play To A Tie

SAN ANTONIO, Texas—McNeese women's soccer team played Incarnate Word to a 2-2 Southland Conference tie here Friday night. With the tie, McNeese improves to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in league play.

Rachel Young's second goal of the season in the 30th minute put the Cowgirls on the board first with a goal from the lower center of the net.

One minute and five seconds later, Jillian Bech's shot from the high right of the box found the back of the net for a 2-0 McNeese lead. The goal was also Bech's second of the season.

Both UIW's goals came from Keeley Ayala who didn't waste any time in the second half, scoring the Cardinals' first goal of the game one minute and 45 seconds into the second half to cut the McNeese lead to 2-1.

Ayala scored the equalizer in the 76th minute off a corner kick to tie the game at two apiece.

McNeese will return home next Friday (Sept. 30) to host Nicholls and Sunday (Oct. 1) to host Northwestern State.
