WBB: Cowgirls Travel To League Leading Texas A&M-CC Saturday

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese women's basketball will travel to league leading Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday, Jan. 28 for a 1 p.m. game between two teams that are riding a four-game winning streak, currently the longest in the SLC.
 
McNeese (8-11, 5-3) is coming off a 69-34 dominating win at Incarnate Word on Thursday that saw the Cowgirls produce its best shooting percent (58.1) this season.
 
Paris Mullins, who came off the bench is leading McNeese in scoring (10.2 ppg.) is coming off her first career double double against Incarnate Word.  Mullins led McNeese with 11 points and 12 rebounds in the Cowgirls win Thursday.
 
Desirae Hansen, who has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games is averaging 11.3 ppg. in conference games and is ranked third in the SLC with a 46.8 three-point field goal percent in league contest.
 
Divine Tanks continues to lead the Cowgirls with 5.7 rpg. and leads the SLC with a 63.3 field goal percent in conference play.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12-7, 7-1 SLC) is coming off an 86-47 win over Nicholls on Thursday.
 
Alecia Westbrook and Makinna Serrata lead the Islanders in scoring with Westbrook averaging 11.5 ppg. and Serrata averaging 11.1 ppg. Westbrook also leads the team with 10.1 rpg.
 
 
 
NOTES
- It's the first game of the season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  Both teams will play again in Lake Charles on Feb. 18.
 
- The Islanders hold an 11-9 series advantage over the Cowgirls. A&M-CC has won 4 of the last 5 meetings with McNeese winning 76-65 in Lake Charles on Feb. 2, 2022, in the last meeting between the two teams.
 
- McNeese is 1-8 against AMCC in games played in Corpus Christi.  The only McNeese win in Corpus Christi was a 76-51 win on Jan. 8, 2011. 
 
- Both teams enter the game on a four-game winning streak, currently the longest in the SLC.
 
- As a team, McNeese leads the league in scoring in conference games, averaging 68.6 ppg. The Cowgirls also lead the league with a 46.6 field goal percent, assists (15.8), and is second in rebounds (38.6), and steals with 9.4 spg.
 
- McNeese is coming off a 69-34 win at UIW Thursday in a game where the Cowgirls had its best shooting night of the season, ending the game with a 58.1 field goal percent and dominated UIW on the boards 40-25.
 
- The Cowgirls have had at least three players score in double figures in five of the last seven games.
 
- Paris Mullin and Cristina Gil came off the bench to lead the Cowgirls in scoring.  Mullins recorded her first career double double (11 pts., 12 reb.) and Gil scored 10 points.
 
- Mullins continues to lead McNeese in scoring (10.2 ppg.).  Mullins has scored in double figures in three of the last four games.
 
- Tanks continues to lead the team with 5.7 rpg. overall and is averaging 5.8 rpg. in conference games.  Tanks leads the league with a 63.3 field goal percent in conference games.
