McNeese downs HCU on road for third conference victory

HOUSTON, Texas - McNeese's soccer program (6-4-2, 3-0-1 SLC) claimed its third conference victory 2-1 over Houston Christian University (3-7-0, 1-3-0 SLC) to remain undefeated in conference play at Sorrels Field Sunday afternoon.

"Magalie did exactly what we asked her to do and Allie played her a great ball to put her in position to be successful," praised head coach Drew Fitzgerald. "I think Kaile does a great job and it goes to her being in the right spaces at the right times."

HCU took an early 1-0 lead in the 40th minute of play before the Pokes struck back just under three minutes later with a goal by senior Magalie Depot. Depot connected the ball with the net off a cross by sophomore Alexis Theiler.

A little over 10 minutes into the second half of play, junior Kaile Kukaua claimed her fourth goal of the season off a header from senior Martine Ellefsen.

The Cowgirls remain undefeated in conference play four matches in for the first time since 2019 when the team started off 5-0.
