LAKE CHARLES - McNeese's soccer program (6-5-2, 3-1-1 SLC) fell to Lamar (11-2-1, 6-0-0) 2-1 at Cowgirl Field Sunday afternoon after both teams battled each other to be scoreless 65 minutes into the match.
"I think they got a great team and the girls competed all day," said head coach
Drew Fitzgerald. "We got a little push, and we thought maybe one or two more balls behind and maybe we create something."
The Cowgirls and Cardinals battled for 65 minutes scoreless until Lamar put in a goal in the 66th minute of action to take a 1-0 lead. They extended the lead in the 73rd minute with another goal, making it 2-0.

Kiana Kukaua scored the lone goal for the blue and gold with just under three minutes left to play on a corner kick.
McNeese returns to action Friday night in a rematch against Northwestern State at Cowgirl Field at 7 p.m.
