Cowgirls shut out Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2-0 road victory

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - McNeese soccer (8-6-3, 5-2-2 SLC) claimed a hard-fought victory on the road against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (7-8-3, 4-5-1 SLC) 2-0 at Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track Stadium Sunday afternoon.

"I'm proud of the team effort today," said head coach Drew Fitzgerald. "Always good to get a road win and this was an important one in terms of the standings. Kaile continues to find ways to impact winning and the back line fought hard to earn the shutout."

After playing a little over 61 minutes of scoreless action, the first goal of the afternoon was claimed by sophomore Alexis Theiler with a little help from Cassandra Romero.

The Kukaua sisters connected in the 65th minute of action as Kaile Kukaua put the ball in the net with an assist by Kiana Kukaua to give the Cowgirls a 2-0 lead.

In the victory, McNeese claimed its fifth shutout win of the 2023 campaign

McNeese returns home for its final regular season match of the season on October 27 against Texas A&M-Commerce at Cowgirl Field.
