LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball wasted little time in its straight set 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11) win over Lamar Thursday night in a Southland Conference match to improve to 7-12 overall and 5-1 in the SLC. The loss drops Lamar to 0-17 on the season and 0-6 in league action.
The Cowgirls ended the match with its best hitting percent of the season (.337) and nearly doubled Lamar in kills (45-26).
Junior
Carissa Chainey picked up her sixth double double of the season by collecting 16 kills and 12 digs. Chainey was the only player in the match to record double figure kills.
McNeese's defense picked up 62 digs and was led by junior libero
Bailey Tillman who led all players with 27 digs. The Cowgirls also produced from the service line where they collected seven aces.
McKenzie Moore led the Cowgirls with four aces while
Kendall Osgood was credited with two and
Tshilanda Diouf had one.
The Cowgirls will travel to Southeastern this Saturday, Oct. 7 for a 12 p.m. match that will broadcast on ESPN+.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
• Lamar took a very early lead 2-0 before McNeese tied the set at two apiece
• With McNeese leading 15-12, Lamar pulled to within one point (15-14)
• Following a McNeese timeout, the Cowgirls scored the next five points to lead 20-14 before going on to win the set 25-19
Set 2
• Both teams traded points early on but a mini run by the Cowgirls gave them a 12-7 lead behind the serve of
Kendall Osgood and three straight kills by
Carissa Chainey.

Emma Hendricks pushed the McNeese lead to 19-9 before the Cowgirls ended the set on a 4-1 run to secure the second set to take a 2-0 lead.
Set 3
• McNeese opened the set by scoring the first three points then led 9-2 following a
McKenzie Moore ace. A Lamar timeout didn't faze the Cowgirls as they went on a 12-6 run to lead 21-9 before another Lamar timeout.
