LAKE CHARLES – McNeese (1-8, 1-4 SLC) returns to Cowboy Stadium for its final home football game of the season when it hosts HCU (5-4, 3-2 SLC).
Kick-off is schedule for 7 p.m. The game will broadcast on ESPN+ and on the McNeese Radio Network (92.9 The Lake and 929thelake.com).
The Cowboys will recognize six players prior to the game who will be playing in their final home game of their career – linebacker
Brayden Adams, offensive lineman
Jasper Friis, kicker Branden Hayden, tight end
Kyle Klink, long snapper
Trey Vondenstein, and defensive lineman
Trey Winters.
The night will also be Teacher Appreciation Game as all faculty and staff members in Calcasieu Parish will be admitted free. CPSB employees will need to show their "Building Cowboys for the Future" credentials at the gate to gain entry while non-CPSB employees must present a current school ID.
The Navy Seals jump team will parachute into Cowboy Stadium prior to the game and the 2023 Homecoming Court will be presented at halftime.
About the Game:
• True freshman quarterback Kam Sixkiller will be making his first collegiate start behind center. Sixkiller made his college debut last Saturday at Southeastern and completed 9 of 19 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. He became the first true freshman QB to throw a touchdown pass since the 2010 season (Cody Stroud).
• Saturday's game will mark the sixth meeting in the series with the Cowboys having won the previous five. The series began in 2017. McNeese is 2-0 at home against the Huskies and won 42-27 in 2019, the last time the game was played in Cowboy Stadium. McNeese won 21-10 last year in Houston.
• Sophomore linebacker
Micah Davey has recorded 112 tackles on the season and is ranked No. 1 in the SLC and FCS with 14.0 tackles per game and 7.9 solo tackles. He's third in the country with 112 total tackles. He's recorded double-digit tackles in every game this season and in 11 games in his career.
• Offensive linemen
Cole Leclair and
Dylan Dauzart will be making their 20
th consecutive start as a Cowboy dating back to last season. Overall, Leclair will start in his 34
th straight game when including the starts he made at Valdosta State before transferring to McNeese.
• Sophomore wide receiver
Jon McCall is ranked second in the SLC with five touchdown catches. He's made at least one catch every game this season and has pulled in at least three catches in six straight outings.
• Freshman wide receiver
Makhi Paris leads all freshmen in the conference with 24 catches on the season. He's made at least one catch in every game this year.
• Two Cowboys were awarded scholarships at Tuesday's practice – running back
Joshon Barbie and defensive back
Thomas Miles.
• In the last two games, Barbie has rushed for 185 yards on 31 carries the last two games.
