Morgan Talley breaks 60m Hurdles Record at Vandy Meet

NASHVILLE – McNeese's Morgan Talley broke an eight-year-old Cowgirl 60-meter hurdles record, not once but twice on Saturday during the final day of the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge.
 
Talley clocked a time of 8.45 in the first round of the event to qualify for the semifinals, where she ran an 8.35 to advance to the finals. Both times bettered the previous record of 8.49 that was set by Lauren Thompson on Feb. 17, 2015. In the finals, Talley ran an 8.51 to finish in fourth place.
 
Her 8.35 is the fastest in the Southland Conference this season and the 11th-fastest in the South Central Region.
 
• The Cowgirls got a third place finish from Kayla Harrison in the 400-meters where she ran a personal best time of 55.60. Her time is ranked third in the league.
Kayla Warner's 2:14.45 in the 800m is the 5th-fastest in the conference.
• Overall, the Cowgirls posted 11 PRs in the meet.
• Weight thrower Mariah Lee recorded a new PR with a mark of 58-8 ¾ and widening her No. 1 ranking in the conference.
• The Cowboys saw eight personal record fall and had a couple of speedy finishes in the 400-meters.
Ondray Miles won the 400-meters in the unseeded field with a time of 48.06 while in the seeded field of the 400, Jalon White clocked a Southland Conference-best 47.13 to finish in second place.
• White also ran a 21.67 in the 200 for a season-best time and eighth-fastest in the league.
Filippo Squassina ran a 1:53.44 in the 800-meters to record a new personal best and also moving him into the No. 2 ranking in the league.
