CLINTON, Miss. -  Emma Lou-Pommiers' three-set (4-6, 7-6, 6-2) win over Ely Ala at No. 1 singles clinched a McNeese Women's Tennis victory over Mississippi College Monday afternoon in a grueling match that lifted the Cowgirls to 7-1 on the season.  The loss was the first of the season for Mississippi College, who fell to 6-1 on the year.
 
Miss. College took the early lead by winning the doubles point but a straight set win by Maria Wang Martinez at No. 6 evened the match at one point apiece. 
 
The Lady Choctaws picked up wins at No. 4 and 5 to lead 3-1 but Cowgirl wins by Heta Nuutinen at No. 2 and Tiana Fox's win at No. 3 tied the match at three points apiece setting up the clinching point at No. 1 where Pommiers dropped the first set but rallied back to win the next two sets to win her match and the overall match win.
 
McNeese will travel to UL-Lafayette for a 3 p.m. make-up match that was postponed on Feb. 11. The Cowgirls will return home on Friday, March 3 to host Dillard in a 3 p.m. match.
