LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboys will carry an 11-game home winning streak into Tuesday night's mid-week game against the University of Houston.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will broadcast live on ESPN+.
The Cowboys (15-5) are out to their best start through 20 games since the 2017 season and have won 11-straight games at home, the fourth-longest streak in school history.
McNeese is coming off a three-game weekend sweep over Yale while Houston (8-11) swept Minnesota on the road this past weekend.
The Cowboys are expected to start RHP
Kainin Morrow on the mound. Morrow is 2-0 on the season with a 2.45 ERA. He's appeared in seven games and has made two starts and has thrown 18.1 innings.
Offensively, the Cowboys are led at the plate by second baseman
Brad Burckel who is hitting .333 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. Burckel, who transferred from Houston to McNeese following the 2021 season, will be going up against his brother, Brandon Burckel, who is a sophomore second baseman for the Cougars.
Shortstop
Josh Leslie leads the team and is ranked No. 1 in the Southland and 21
st nationally with 29 runs batted in. Leslie knocked in 10 runs in four games last week including nine over the weekend against Yale.
Tuesday's game will be the 69
th meeting in the series with Houston holding a 52-16 advantage. The Cougars won by a 3-2 score last season in Lake Charles.
