HAMMOND—McNeese women's tennis dropped its first Southland Conference match Thursday in a 6-1 loss at Southeastern, snapping the Cowgirls' five match winning streak.
McNeese falls to 12-3 overall and 2-1 in the SLC while Southeastern improved to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the SLC. McNeese will play at Northwestern State on Sunday in an 11 a.m. match.
Southeastern won the doubles point and never looked back on its way to winning five of the six singles matches. The lone Cowgirl win came from
Maria Wang Martinez's straight set 6-3, 6-2 win over Alba Perez on Court 5 to improve to 14-1 overall and remained undefeated in thee SLC at 3-0.
Southeastern cruised to victories in three singles matches by winning in straight sets on Court 1, 2, and 4.
Tiana Fox on Court 3 and
Ariane Monlleo Sanchis on Court 6 took their match to three sets despite losing.
