NATCHITOCHES—McNeese women's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit here Sunday to defeat Northwestern State 4-3 in a Southland Conference match to improve to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.
 
McNeese began the match by winning the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 2 for the 1-0 lead.
 
Northwestern State (9-8, 1-3 SLC) evened the match at one apiece by winning the No. 2 singles then took a 2-1 lead by winning on Court 3.
 
The Cowgirls won the next two matches on Courts 4 and 6 to take a 3-2 lead.  Following a win at No. 1 by the Lady Demons that evened the match at three point apiece, it was up to the final court where Maria Wang Martinez was facing Dorota Szczygielska on Court 5.
 
Wang dropped the first set 7-5 then evened the match at one set apiece with a 7-5 second set win, sending the match to a third set.  The third set would go to a tiebreaker where Wang prevailed 7-6 (7-4) to clinch the match for the Cowgirls.
 
With the win, Wang improves to 15-1 overall and 4-0 in league play.
