LAKE CHARLES – McNeese track and field had a busy last few days as it covered a lot of miles while competing at three different meets – Bryan Clay Invitational, the SFA Carl Kight Invitational and the NSU Leon Johnson Invitational.
Most of the squad competed at NSU where the Cowboys and Cowgirls recorded four first place finishes.
Hammer thrower
Mariah Lee earned her third win of the season after she threw 183-2 and topping 180-feet for the fourth time this outdoor season.
Chloe Hernandez finished second in the meet with a mark of 177-3 while setting a new personal record. Hernandez also finished fifth in the discus event.
Javelin thrower
Blanche Beard won for the second time this season with a throw of 150-11.
On the men's side,
Hunter Longino won in the javelin event with a mark of 208. It was his third win on the season. In the hammer throw,
Tyler Challis won with a throw of 179-10 for his second win this season. He also finished sixth in the discus (143-2) and eighth in the shot put (45-9.75).
Five Cowboys and Cowgirls competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California.
Omer El-Fadl (1:52.06) and
Filippo Squassina (1:56.37) ran the 800-meters for the Cowboys while Irene Barreiro-Lopez (2:16.60) and
Ciara Gilroy (2:16.72) competed in the event for the Cowgirls. Also for the Cowgirls,
Marta Pascoa ran an 11:02.72 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
At the SFA Carl Kight Invite & Multis,
Logan Broussard made his debut in the decathlon and recorded 5,772 points.
The track squads will return to action on Saturday at the Alabama Crimson Tide Invite in the final tune-up before the SLC Outdoor Championships.
