LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball will travel to Houston, Texas this weekend for its regular season series finale at Houston Christian with the Southland Conference regular season title on the line. The series will begin with a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and will conclude with a single game at 12 p.m. Saturday.  All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

A doubleheader split on Friday assures McNeese (38-14, 18-3 SLC) no less than a share of the title and a doubleheader win would clinch the outfight title and the No. seed in next week's Southland Conference Championship that will be in Lake Charles.

The Cowgirls, winners of 19 of their last 23 games is coming off a series sweep over Texas-A&M-Corpus Christi last weekend.  Houston Christian (20-28, 9-12 SLC) enters the series tied for fifth place in the league standings along with the Islanders and Lamar.  The Huskies have lost their last five games including a 5-2 home loss to Tarleton on Thursday.

McNeese will enter the series with a conference best .343 team batting average, 62 stolen bases, and a conference low 1.13 ERA, and 10 shutouts in conference games.

Senior outfielder Alayis Seneca continues to lead the Cowgirls with a .364 batting average, 52 hits, and is second on the team with 20 stolen bases.

In the circle, senior Whitney Tate (14-4) has a staff low 1.57 ERA and seven shutouts while junior Ashley Vallejo (15-8) has a 1.14 ERA and a staff high 97 strikeouts.

HCU is led by AB Garcia's .425 batting average and 57 hits while Haylie Savage leads the Huskies with seven homeruns.
