Friday Night Cowboy Block Party returns for third year

| By:
LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Athletic Foundation, for the third year, will present the Cowboy Block Party every Friday night prior to McNeese football Saturday home games and this year will have an added flare.

The five block parties will feature a different band for every party that will play from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert Noland Alumni Pavilion, aka "The Grove." Following the bands will be DJ Sparrow spinning tunes from 9:15-10:45 p.m.

Free admission and free parking for all who attend and outside food and drinks will be permitted. Food trucks will also be on site.

The party gets underway on Friday, September 1 with the Flamethrowers. Louisiana legend Wayne Toups will take the stage on Sept. 29. Steel Shot will perform on October 20 while the following week on Oct. 27, LA Roxx will perform. The Chee-Weez will close out the block parties on Nov. 10.

"I'm really excited to bring back our Friday Night Block Parties again this year," said McNeese Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer. "I want to give a special thanks to two of our corporate sponsors – Lake Charles Toyota and Deep South Productions who made this happen again this year.

"Every year we try to make the block parties bigger and better, and no doubt, we did it this year. Our lineup is off the charts, and with DJ Sparrow closing each Friday, it will be the party of the year each and every (home football) Friday in The Grove.

"I love Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana and I couldn't be more excited to bring our block parties to this great community again this year!"
