SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The McNeese soccer program (0-2-0) fell to UTSAÂ (2-0-0) in the second matchup of the season 0-2 Sunday afternoon at the West Park Athletics Complex.
"We still aren't asking enough questions on the attacking side, but I did feel like the team tried to execute what was asked," said head coach
Drew Fitzgerald. "Again, I think we got better against a really athletic and tough opponent."
Within the first minute, UTSA found the net to gain a 1-0 nothing advantage over the Cowgirls. The rest of the half remained scoreless with junior
Jackie Kelly in as goalkeeper. Kelly earned seven saves in the performance while seeing 13 shots.
Senior
Briana O'Dell entered the game to defend the goal for the second half, her first appearance of the season. She faced 13 shots in the second half with seven saves, allowing only one additional goal in the 81st minute.
Salma Elhaimer, a sophomore, took one shot in the outing with freshman
Morgan Fiedler earning the second one for the Cowgirls.
McNeese continues playing on the road next Friday against Alcorn at 7 p.m. at Spinks-Casem Stadium.
