VB: Alot Of Teaching And Drills During The First Two Practices

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball was put through its first two practices of the 2023 season on Tuesday with the first of three two-a-days scheduled prior to the start of classes next week.
 
With 10 newcomers on the 2023 team, a lot of teaching took place in the morning practice and the first half of the afternoon practice.  This format will continue until the weekend when the Cowgirls begin scrimmaging at the end of practice.  Evenings are set aside for team bonding activities.
 
Second year head coach Sasha Karelov has a total of 15 players including five returnees.  Of the 10 newcomers, six are freshman.
 
The Cowgirls will two a-days on Wednesday and Saturday with one practice on Thursday and Friday with Sunday as serving as their day off.
 
McNeese will hold its Blue/Gold scrimmage at 1 p.m. August 19 at the Legacy Center with the season opener against Coppin State set for Aug. 25 at the Auburn War Eagle Invitational.
 
Practice Times (Aug. 9-14)
Aug. 9: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
             2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Aug. 10: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Aug. 11: 2-5 p.m.
Aug. 12: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
               1 p.m.-3 p.m.
Aug. 13: OFF
Aug. 14: 1 p.m.-4 p.m. (First Day Of Classes)
