LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball took a 2-1 lead over Southeast Missouri in the final match of the day on Friday in the McNeese Invitational, but the Cowgirls weren't able to close out the match, falling in five sets (29-27, 19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 19-17).
The tournament will conclude Saturday with three matches on the schedule beginning at 10:30 a.m. when Southeast Missouri and Sam Houston square off. The Cowgirls will face Jackson State at 1 p.m. and Sam Houston at 6:30 p.m.
McNeese (1-7) had three players record double figure kills with
McKenzie Moore leading all players with a match high 26 kills which is also her career high. Moore was joined in double figures with
Carissa Chainey who was credited with 21, also her career high. Chainey added 17 digs for her second double double of the season.
Sanni Rantanen chipped in with a season high 16 kills and freshman
Emmalynn Montes ended the match with a season high 13 kills.

Megan Grose was credited with season high 67 assists and 13 digs for her first double double of the season.
Bailey Tillman and
Kendall Osgood both recorded season high in digs with 24 and 19, respectively).
Southeast Missouri improved to 4-3 on the season with the win. The Redhawks fell to Jackson State in five sets Friday morning.
