CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas— Texas A&M-Corpus Christi outscored McNeese 45-31 in the second half Thursday night on its way to an 83-63 Southland Conference women's basketball victory, dropping the Cowgirls to 4-14 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Islanders improved to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the SLC.
McNeese only trailed by six points (38-32) at the half and trailed 29-28 with four minutes left in the second quarter but a technical foul was called on McNeese with 3:25 left in the half and within a seven-minute span that ended with 3:23 left in the third quarter, the Islanders outscored the Cowgirls 22-9 to extend its lead to 51-38 and a lead the Cowgirls weren't able to overcome.
McNeese's
Emilia Tenbrock led all players with a game high 22 points and was the only Cowgirl to reach double figures. Tenbrock was 8 of 15 from the field including three 3-pointers. The 22-point game is the is the fourth straight double figure scoring game for Tenbrock and 10
th in the last 11 games.
A&M-CC had five players score in double figures with Alexia Westbrook, Tymberlin Criswell, and Mireia Aguado all leading the Islanders with 12 points apiece. Westbrook ended the game with 11 rebounds to complete a double double.
The Cowgirls shot 41.0 percent from the field (25-61) and 50.0 percent (7-14) from the free throw line while the Islanders shot 46.4 percent (32-69) from the field and 54.2 percent (13-24) from the free throw line. Both teams made six 3-pointers apiece. A&M-CC dominated the boards, outrebounding the Cowgirls 52-27 and scored 50 of their points in the paint.
McNeese will remain on the road for a 2 p.m. game at Incarnate Word Saturday.

• A&M-CC opened the game by taking a 15-5 lead and the Cowgirls trailed 17-11 after the first quarter
2nd Quarter
• AM-CC took a 19-11 lead to start the second quarter before McNeese went on a 10-4 run in the next 1:49 to take its first lead of the game 22-21 early in the second quarter.
• With 3:25 left in the quarter and the Cowgirls trailing 29-28, McNeese was called for a technical and from this point on A&M-CC outscored McNeese 5-2 the rest of the way to hold a 34-30 halftime lead.
• McNeese shot 42.9 percent (12-28) from the field including 44.4 percent (4-9) from behind the arc.
