LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese volleyball put together a complete match Saturday on its way to picking up its first Southland Conference win of the season with a straight set (25-12, 25-12 25-18) win over New Orleans, snapping a five-match losing streak. The win improves the Cowgirls to 5-10 overall and 1-2 in the SLC. UNO falls to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the SLC.

McNeese will conclude its three match homestand next Tuesday, Oct. 8 in a 6:30 p.m. match against Nicholls.

SET 1
• Trailing 6-5, the Cowgirls went on an 8-1 run to take a 13-8 lead and one they would give up
• With the Cowgirls leading 19-11, McNeese went on a 5-0 run behind the serve of
Lacie Schooley to put the Cowgirls at set point (24-11).

Naterah Moore closed out the set with a kill to give McNeese the set win

• For the second straight set, the Cowgirls trailed early (5-4) before going on a 7-0 run off the serve of
Lauren Fuller to lead 11-5
• Another mini run extended the Cowgirls lead to 14-6 and then another one behind the serve of
Bailey Tillman gave McNeese a 20-8 lead
• McNeese ended the set on a 4-0 run with kills from
Megan Grose,
Leilani Goggin, and Schooley

• After both teams traded points, McNeese scored four straight points to take and early 5-1 lead.
• McNeese took advantage of a few Privateer errors to lead 13-7
• Leading 17-13, McNeese scored four straight including two aces by Fuller to lead 21-13 before closing the set and the match on another kill by
Naterah Moore. Â

POST MATCH NOTES
• It's the first SLC win for the Cowgirls this season
• McNeese ended the match with a .427 hitting percent including a season low nine hitting errors
• The Cowgirls also recorded six aces and out blocked UNO 18-2
•
McKenzie Moore and
Megan Grose both ended the match with double doubles.Â
• Moore recorded a match high 12 kills and a match high 14 digs
• Grose recorded 10 kills and a tied for a match high with 17 assists
•
Lacie Schooley dished out a career high 17 assists and tied Grose for a match high
•
McKenzie Moore ended the match with a .522 hitting percent on 12 kills in 23 attempts without committing a hitting error.
• Grose also had a good day on offense, ending with a .400 hitting percent (10 kills, 2 errors, 20 attempts)
