BATON ROUGE – Field events stole the show for the McNeese indoor track and field squad here Friday at the LSU Twilight as the Cowboys and Cowgirls combined four first place finishes.
 
Overall, a total of personal records were broken while several athletes moved up in the Southland Conference rankings in their respective events in the final meet before the Feb. 25-26 Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
 
On the men's side, Amire Ledet took first place in the triple jump (48-11.5) and placed third in the long jump (23-6.75), moving up to No. 3 and 4 respectively in the SLC rankings in those events.
 
Weight thrower Abner Johnson cracked the top 10 rankings with his seventh place PR throw of 54-5.25 to rank him No. 9 in the league.
 
For the Cowgirls, Mariah Lee added to her league leading mark in the weight throw with a personal record and first place measure of 63-9.5 which also bumps her to No. 5 in the NCAA South Central Region and 68^th nationally.
 
Jaslyn Russell won the shot put with a mark of 46-1.25 while Morgan Louvier placed fourth in the pole vault with a PR mark of 11-6.25, ranking her fifth in the conference.
 
On the track, Latavia Jack ran a PR in the 60-meter prelims with a time of 7.58 then bettered that in the finals where she clocked a 7.54 to finish sixth while moving up to No. 4 in the Southland rankings.
